Plein-Air Painter JOAN CORDELL's work over the years has focused on offering highest quality art prints from original gouaches to the global art market - in places as diverse as Bermuda, Maui, France, Italy, Spain, Nova Scotia and the Antipodes.
Formally trained at the respected Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney, Australia - Joan Cordell has painted all her life - first as an avocation within a demanding business career, then with prime focus on painting since the 1980s - with an emphasis on the commercial application of fine art as a way of reaching a wider audience.

Hello - and warmest greetings to you as an appreciative art-lover!
As you can see I follow in the French Impressionist tradition of painting out-of-doors - using natural light and atmosphere to spontaneously reflect a moment in time.
For me, the world is a passing light show; it is ART that allows a pause to absorb the essence of it.
The dynamic perspective of the on-site sketch drives the plein-air artist, who sits IN the landscape, immersed in a vital, changing world; interacting with it. Also, people often gather around, share their stories; adding to my understanding of what lies before me.
I find working in gouache to be the most practical medium for bringing together the subtleties in colour, shape and texture that are reflected in my final work of art - giving you the viewer a personal impression of what that 'picture on your wall' is all about!
Enjoy every nuance of it!
