Unexpected mansions, with ornate tiles and fretted folderols, are reminders of the town's forefathers who went looking for a new life in the second half of the 19thC.
Some came home with the proverbial 'pots of gold' and built family estates, now known as 'maisons mexicaines' - one such being 'LES CYTISES' . And a day of painting from a grassy bank nearby, lends pleasant conjecture to history.
